As an introvert, I've learned three important things about networking. Don't force yourself to join a large boisterous crowd. He's probably as relieved as you are to connect with a friendly stranger.
In fact, because we humans possess so many personal filters, this process is nearly impossible without the aid of some professionals who can view you objectively. Again, only 1% of the respondents got this one. If you are to market yourself - you must realize that you are not competing in a vacuum! Your skills and capabilities will be stacked up against many others in the company and it's not always the most qualified who stays or who gets promoted. This is where the interview can get a bit tricky. Come to the interview dressed appropriately. Find out everything you can about the interviewer's quirks and traits. On the other hand, it's far better to establish a rapport with your interviewer than to answer every question correctly. Establish a comfort level early in the interview and maintain that rapport throughout.
More and more companies are now relying on computers to initiate the process of hiring and are filling their database with candidates with skills that are easily searchable. Some are able to read just about anything and others are confused by the smallest detail. So if you are unaware of the limitations of the system then play it safe and follow the simplest guidelines. It is not a good idea to fax your resume to the employer. Scanning system abilities differ from company to company so it's difficult to set boundaries.
That was the scariest part of this process. Whenever I started to feel negative or defeated, I simply reminded myself of the obsticles I have overcome and was able to see a clear path to where my life was heading. I would often tell myself whenever I fell into a slump, the only one who will hold you back is you, so stop feeling sorry for yourself and get back to doing what you love to do! That couching always got me through the tough times and still does today. I needed to build the foundation of my life, my family and my business. I stopped living my life feeling defeated and I started living my life feeling empowered and determined.
Successful career changers know that this is the essence of the process -- and it usually doesn't happen overnight. These projections are not your present reality. Write them down as a reminder of your abundance. Acknowledge yourself - deeply, and at the feeling level -- for the experience and skills you have gained. Successful career-changers know two things.

There will be times it
seems that form and process are the most important things
in your company and consequently to your boss. In most cases, it's wrong to think that every time things appear to be heading south (or even when the mere possibility of such thing is on the horizon), you must brief the boss. While it may be a good tactic if the boss is a committed micro manager, usually this almost- compulsive adherence to full disclosure will just cause bosses to start seeing you as the person who regularly
makes him or her reach for a bottle of purple pills. Make sure the boss doesn't associate
you with bad news. Understand that people in the executive suite usually aren't impressed by anybody who frequently runs upstairs asking for advice doing their job.
I received many interview offers, none of which I was interested in. And, even if you don't get an offer after your first interview, send a thank-you letter to the employer.
